About the Release
Mama Djuma is a heartfelt dedication to legacy and lineage. Pianist/producer Aron Ottignon and Senegalese percussion master Bahkane Seck created this EP to honor Seck’s mother — Djuma — and her granddaughter who shares the same name.
Featuring powerhouse vocal performances from Toufa Mbaye and Aïcha Niang, the music weaves through family memory, improvisation, jazz textures, and spiritual song. Each track is a love letter to womanhood, memory, and sonic healing.
